
What we think we know so far….
The following information has been collated from internet searches, newspaper articles, official public domain reports and interviews with the parents, associates and family of Lisa GOVAN.
Lisa Joanne GOVAN disappeared on the morning of 8 October 1999 after socialising with friends at the Safari Nightclub the previous evening. According to the parents of Lisa, Lisa was observed on CCTV drinking with persons unknown. Later Lisa travelled from the Safari Club in a taxi with a balding unidentified male to an unknown destination in the early hours of the morning. She was last observed by independent witnesses outside the Foundry Hotel, specifically the Deroes Outlaw Motorcycle Gang headquarters, on her mobile phone. This information was allegedly provided by a cleaner at Bunnings and a tradesperson driving past. Of note is that the Bunnings Outlet on Boulder Road was opposite the Foundry Hotel and headquarters in 1999.
Tim was Lisa’s partner at the time. They had lived in Kalgoorlie for three years. He was employed at the SuperPit in Kalgoorlie. On the morning of 8 October 1999, he left work after an night shift and was reported as attempting to contact her via her mobile phone on numerous occasions.
The following information is not precise, however, it was reported by the GOVAN”s that Tim attempted to locate Lisa by attending one of her girlfriend’s homes. He allegedly kicked in the door of the residence, however, the girlfriend had recently moved and Tim was at the wrong residence.
Tim allegedly rode his motorbike through Kalgoorlie and at one point, according to his testimony to Police, he fell off his motorbike at approximately 14:00 hours which caused soft tissue injuries to his torso and shoulder. Tim was observed in an agitated manner on CCTV at the Kalgoorlie Hospital. He did not present to see a medical officer and left after a short time later.
Witnesses who attended the Headquarters on 7/8 October 1999, who have spoken about the night in question have informed the Govan’s that there was nothing untoward occurring in the Club house and that Lisa left of her own accord between 0500 hours and 07:30 hours on the morning of 8 October 1999.
Police statements to Journalists indicated that Lisa was seen talking to two Club Deroes members outside the Foundry Hotel on 8 October 1999 at 7:15 hours or thereabouts. Initially they stated that the members would not assist and then in later articles that they did assist but could not provide any insight into Lisa’s disappearance. They were not considered suspects.
An independent, but uncorroborated witness statement to the Govan’s indicated that at 07:30 hours, Lisa was seen in the MacDonald’s carpark with two men who were both on motorbikes and that one man drove Lisa away.
